Little did I know that a year after first writing about stylish baby boudoirs that I’d be expecting my own tiny bundle. The books, blogs and mommy sites are no joke! I kicked into full nesting mode during my third trimester with baby high hormones that amped up my naturally crafty juices to Martha Stewart/MacGyver levels.
As a lifelong globetrotter, I wanted a travel-themed nursery combined with Pixar’s ode to love, travel and adventure, Up. The film’s magical 5 minute sequence documenting the love story between Carl and Ellie, set against a score so moving that my husband and I can barely hear it without major waterworks, was such a huge part of our relationship that we wanted it to be a part of our baby’s nursery.
“Up”/Travel-Themed Nursery Ingredients
Inspiration: Etsy, Pinterest and Houzz
Shops: Etsy (art, mobile frame), Vintage Apartment/The Hunt (Mid-Century dresser, stroller), Michael’s (banner, “Up” house parts), Cost Plus World Market (Christmas travel-themed ornaments for the mobile, rug, chandelier), Buttercup (glider)
Now, without further ado, our Up/Travel-Themed Nursery!

Hello!
Can you tell me more about how you made the cute little house from Up? Was this a kit? I tried to search michaels but did not get much information. Any help on how I can make this would be great as we are doing a similar theme for our nursery.
thank you!!

Hi Rachel! We bought the house already assembled from Etsy (Seller: PixiesTinyThings https://www.etsy.com/shop/PixiesTinyThings) and it was perfect and lightweight since I wanted to hang it from the ceiling. I added the the balloons by getting a medium size styrofoam ball and hot gluing colored pom-poms all over it – both purchased from Michaels. The styrofoam balloon part is attached to the house very loosely using clear plastic thread (also Michael’s) and the entire thing hangs from plastic thread to the ceiling. Hope that helps! Good luck!
