My dream front porch — a room-like feel with curtains and lighting

As many of you may know, my home has been in a constant state of renovation since I purchased it in 2005. This summer we’re tackling our new and improved deck/outdoor living room with the hope of having a BBQ by August–of this year. Ideally. This time consuming project got me thinking that I really could do something this weekend about the oft-neglected part of most homes: the front porch.

Your front porch is the first impression. While my home’s landscaping and interior are gloriously Spanish, it’s a dreary alley in Tijuana on the porch. So this weekend, I’m tackling this space and hope to make my 50 sq. ft. overlooking the yard a place I’ll never want to leave. The options are only limited by your imagination: an outdoor reading room, a lazy Sunday wine sipping area, a breakfast spot, game room…
