Calling all dog-loving Angelenos! In celebration of Mother’s Day, the Lu Park Project has kicked off its 2nd annual, “Have a Heart, Donate a Bed” fundraiser.
The Lu Parker Project, which supports at-risk youth and homeless animals, is asking for the community’s help to purchase durable and comfortable beds for homeless dogs at L.A. shelters. Beds cost $65 and every penny will be used towards purchasing a bed and nothing else.
“While hundreds of dogs in our city shelters wait to be adopted, they often sleep on a cold, hard concrete floor every day and night,” said Lu Parker, founder of the Lu Parker Project. “We saw a need, and decided to offer a great Mother’s Day gift that will in turn help dogs have a safe and comfortable place to lay their head until they find a new home.”
Last year, with support from volunteers including Mayor Villaraigosa and actor Adam Sandler, they donated nearly 200 beds to the South L.A. Shelter. This year, they hope to greatly exceed that amount so donations can be made to all 6 L.A.-area shelters.
In return for your donation, you’ll get a custom Mother’s Day Card from a local artist, a “thank you” card and gift certificate donated by a local business that you can give to the mom in your life. Your gift will be knowing that you’ve made a frightened shelter pup a little more comfortable.
