The very brave Alex Libby from "Bully"

I didn’t think anyone was religiously following my top weekend picks until I got numerous emails and Facebook messages when it didn’t post yesterday. Thanks guys! Apologies for being a day late, but I had a really good reason. More after the jump!

We attended a screening of the documentary “Bully,” which follows the lives of 5 bullied teens from 2009-2010. It was brutal, honest and very moving and I encourage everyone to go see it. This is a must see for parents, kids and anyone interested in changing the caustic tone of our culture.

The Brewery Artwalk is a semi-annual event that occurs in the Spring & Fall, where over 150 artists open their studios for the weekend. Where else will you have the opportunity to visit over 150 galleries in one day? Just off L.A.’s 5 Freeway, the Brewery ArtWalk offers visitors a chance to experience the world’s largest artist-in-residence compound. “We have the Burning Man crowd showing in museums, and then there are people like architects and furniture craftsmen,” says Claudia Endler, a jewelry designer who has lived at the 23-acre Brewery Art Colony for 10 years. Her advice: “It’s a big place, so bring your map!”
